Donkey Advice Centre

We want to make it easy for you to find the reliable information you need. Our free resource hub and Donkey Academy are good places to begin. Here you can find factsheets and online courses covering a wide range of topics about caring for donkeys, including advice about health conditions, nutrition and behaviour.

If you can’t find the advice or answer you are looking for, you can contact our Donkey Advice Centre and speak to one of our dedicated team members.

How we can help you

Our team can provide a wide range of donkey care, management and behaviour advice, as well as rehoming advice and solutions if you are struggling to care for your donkeys or mules.

If you would like to speak to one of our team members, please do not hesitate to contact us via the webform below or call us on 01395 578222.

If you live in Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, Spain or Italy, our in-country teams can offer local advice and support:

What happens when I get in touch?

As a first point of contact, our team will ask you questions and gather information about your donkeys and their circumstances. This will help us understand what help you need and how we can support you.

If our initial team can’t resolve your query, they may speak to other departments within the charity to call on their expertise before responding to your query. If appropriate, our GB Donkey Welfare Advisers may be able to visit you and your donkeys or mules to offer at home, bespoke advice.

Advice outside GB

Our Donkey Advice Centre team are based at our Sidmouth sanctuary and are primarily focused on supporting our work in England, Scotland and Wales. We also have local teams based in Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, Spain and Italy who can be contacted through their websites.

If you live outside of these countries, we will do our best to offer relevant advice, however it may take us slightly longer to reply. Unfortunately, our global team are unable to respond directly to reports of donkeys in need/distress. We strongly recommend raising any donkey welfare concerns directly with local authorities and animal welfare organisations in your country.
